RESURRECTION WELCOMES CLAY OLLIS AS NEW CHOIR DIRECTOR
Clay was born in Canton, Ohio; his family moved to Kings Mountain when he was 12. He graduated from Kings Mountain High School, received a BA in music from Mars Hill College (near Asheville), and an MDiv/Church Music from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. Clay most recently served as Interim Chancel Choir Director at Central United Methodist Church in Kings Mountain, where he has been a member since 2002. Previously he has been involved with churches in Charlotte, Stone Mountain, GA and Kansas City, MO. Clay is a Claims Representative for the Social Security Administration in Shelby. Clay was introduced to Resurrection members on Sunday evening, Jan. 3rd, at the Epiphany celebration. A special song was written for him by Anita Campbell and Esther Plonk and sung by the choir.

ASH WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 6:45PM
On Ash Wednesday we will observe Holy Communion by intinction at the altar and will have the imposition of ashes.
Plan to join us prior to the service at 6:00pm in the Fellowship Hall for pinto beans and cornbread. prepared by the Amazing Graces Circle. Lenten meals begin February 24th at 6:00pm with the Evening Prayer Service at 6:45pm.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT SMALL GROUP STUDY 6:15 – 7:15pm
Plan to join us as we continue to study the parables in Luke. Facilitators are Pastor Outten and Dennis Sessom. For those who want to bring their bag dinner, plan to meet in the Fellowship Hall at 5:30-6:15pm for social time. Nursery will be provided beginning at 6:15pm.

RESURRECTION’S BOOK CLUB
If you like to read and enjoy getting together with others this is the group for you. Plan to join us for our next meeting on Thursday, February 18th, 7:00pm, at the home of Betty Anne Deal. We will be discussing the book “Have A Little Faith” by Mitch Albom. If you have a book suggestion for our next selection, please bring it to the meeting.

Congratulations
Olivia Blalock, Caleb McNeilly and Sara Borov were confirmed on Sunday, September 6th. They are now voting members of the church and are eligible to be elected to church council. Each confirmand was presented with an Evangelical Lutheran Worship Book with their name, church and the date of confirmation engraved on it.

RESURRECTION’S LIBRARY

How Does Anyone Know God Exists? is a small group Bible study that is part of the “Tough Questions” series. It tackles such issues as “Is anybody out there?” and “What is God really like?” This study is certain to lead to a lively discussion of faith and how it affects our daily lives.
This complete study and many other exciting selections are available in the church library.
