2010 STEWARDSHIP UPDATE
Your Brothers and Sister in Christ Need You!
Evangelism
The traditional definitions say it is the practice of relaying information about a particular set of beliefs to others who do not hold those same beliefs. What does that mean exactly? It means reaching out to a world who does not know God and His son Jesus Christ.
One writer says it is one beggar telling another beggar where to find heavenly bread. Evangelism simply means sharing the good news about the gospel. We at Resurrection reach out to our visitors with our Greeters, we give brochures to our visitors that provide them with an overview of our ministries, we sponsor Suzanne and Martin Shoffner; missionaries in Palestine, we use the media to announce special worship services and events and we reach out to our inactive members and encourage them to become re-engaged.. If we call ourselves "Christians" then evangelism is our business; it is not a program it is people. People reaching out to people. The greatest evangelism tools for any church or denomination is not going to be found in a CD Binder series, but rather the tools are sitting in the pews of our church.
If anyone is interested in becoming a member of the Evangelism Committee or would like more information about the committee contact Dennis Sessom, Chair, or committee members; Joann and Glenn Lineberry, Maxine Bennett, Mary Anne Gibson, Doug Bridges, Kristina Moore, Joan and Earl Filter, and Rosemarie Brinkley.
