What’s this?

Community Garden

In July 2008 I thought I might be seeing things out in the field behind the parsonage. I thought I saw a garden out there. You saw it too. It’s there now. So far this year we’ve harvested 226lbs of produce for the Methodist soup kitchen. They are always happy to get the produce even though there really is just so much zucchini and cucumber you can eat.

We switched to an open schedule to see if people would like to 1) come by help out, 2) take a little fresh food home, 3) help some people in need on their own schedule. After trying that for awhile I think it would be better if we had a set time and an open option. So now if you are interested in helping in the garden, taking home a little fresh produce, and helping those in need, come by on Wednesdays anytime between 6:00 and 6:45pm for a short workout in the garden. Stay for prayer after that from 6:45-7:00pm.

Outside of the office is a notice about what we’re picking that week and what else we need to do – and where to get what you need to do those things. Remember -  just like you learned everything you need to know about life in kindergarten, you learn everything you need to know about the faith in a garden. Plant seeds, pull weeds, harvest.

A Sower went out to sow…(Mark 4:1-9; Matt. 13:1-9; Luke 8:4-8)
